This is just a quick update on Lifelong Learning and Employability classes in the Lasswade cluster area taking place in January:

FREE Classes:

  • ICT for Life – Lasswade high school Library – Thursdays 10:00 – 12:00. flyer here ict-for-life-lasswade
    • Come along to learn about using computers and other devices to help you in your life – a flexible programme that responds to your needs. email
  • Employability Award – Monday mornings from February 2017
    • This course is aimed at adults with additional support needs who are looking to move to employment. This is an SQA lvl 3 Accredited unit. contact us to discuss you or someone you work with getting on this programme. email us here
  • Health Issues in the Community – Lasswade high school – Mondays 10:00 – 11:30 AM, flyer here hiic-lasswade, more information here hiic-leaflet-communities
    • Health Issues in the Community, is a training programme aimed at increasing community capacity and participation, and supporting community development approaches to tackling inequalities in health. email
  • Family French – Loanhead Library, Mondays 3.30- 4.30, flyer here family-french-loanhead
    • Come along and learn French alongside your children. This is a relaxed and informal class aimed at learning a bit of useful French to benefit your child’s and your own learning. email
  • Getting Ready to have your say, Lasswade centre Thursdays 6- 8 from February flyer here getting-ready-to-have-your-say
    • Come along and find out about local democracy and how you can get involved. We will look at how groups work, making decisions and community structures.  email
  • Raising Children with confidence – Bonnyrigg and Rosewell
    • This hugely popular positive parenting programme aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to help you and your children grow and learn together We will run this programme twice next term. Rosewell on Tuesdays rosewell-rcwc, and Bonnyrigg on Wednesdays bonnyrigg-rcw. email
  • Crecheworker Training – TBC
    • This credit rated programme equips you with the skills to become a crecheworker – opening up new avenues of work. Various locations and times across Midlothian – contact us for details. email

Paid for classes:

Many of our adult day and evening classes are full, but there are places in the following programmes:

  • Brand new class – Knitting beginners for Spring and Easter:  Monday mornings. This brand new class is for people with no knitting experience. flyer here knitting-for-spring. email

Existing classes with spaces – These classes will have had a term of activity already, you will be able to join the class, but others on the programme will have done some work already, so you should be ready to ‘catch up’ tutors will help you to join in.

  • Patchwork and quilting – Wednesday evenings
